Our Story

The Herrmann Family Story

Our Story

My husband Gage and I both grew up in San Diego, CA. We met through MySpace.com in August 2005. I know, I know... we met on Myspace? Yes, but there is more to this story - read on.

After the death of my Mom in July of that year I strongly desired to be in fellowship with other believers. It was time spent in the Word (the Bible) and time spent with other Christians that helped me get through that initial period of grief. I became involved in multiple Bible studies and I created a San Diego County Christians group on MySpace.com with the hope of meeting some new Christians in the area and providing a new way for Christians in the area to meet. I had never had a boyfriend before, in fact, for the first time in my life I wasn't looking for a boyfriend.

Gage was a new Christian with no believing friends. He joined with the hope that he would meet some new friends. I was thrilled when I heard his story because that was the exact reason I decided to start that group! I invited him to join my friends and I at a bible study and we met in person at Calvary Chapel Hidden Valley on September 8, 2005. Little did we know at the time that God was orchestrating his plan to bring us together in marriage. Two months after we met we were a couple and a little over one year after we met we married on September 16, 2006. Our first kiss was on our Wedding day!

Zoe - October 2008

On March 12, 2008 we welcomed our first child into the world! A baby girl named Zoe Kimberly (named after her Grandma Kimberly, my mother, who passed away in 2005). She is the most incredible blessing God has granted us with. She is such a joy to have and we look forward watching her grow and learn.

Right now Gage is attending school at Southeast Technical Institute (STI). He has already received a diploma as a Software Support Specialist, and is continuing his work to earn an A.A.S. in Computer Programming. I am a stay-at-home-Mom now and I absolutely love it! I couldn't ask for a better job than this! What a blessing and privilege it is to not need to work outside of the home. My days right now are spent hanging out with my baby girl and working on whatever needs to be done around the house. In the summertime we enjoy going for walks and going to various parks in town. I have a passion for learning. If I could, I would go to school all my life. This is probably why the idea of homeschooling is so exciting to me! I love studying, reading, planning, organizing, resourcefulness, and creativity. I also enjoy writing and photography. I have just earned a Diploma in Photography and hope to one day earn some extra money for our family through my photography.

A New School Year, A New Perspective on Education

What is the purpose of education? I believe the sole purpose of all education is to know God and make Him known.  Proverbs 1:7 says that...
